Terms of Service

Florida Homeschool Toolkit is operated by [ENTITY NAME — e.g., Florida Homeschool Toolkit LLC], Florida, USA ("we," "us"). Last updated: [DATE]. Questions: hello@floridahomeschooltoolkit.com.

By creating an account or using floridahomeschooltoolkit.com (the "Service"), you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

1. What the Service is — and isn't

The Service is a record-keeping and planning tool for Florida homeschool families. It summarizes requirements of Florida's home education and scholarship programs based on the statutes, Florida Department of Education guidance, and scholarship-organization handbooks, and we re-verify those summaries against official sources at least annually.

The Service is not legal advice, and we are not attorneys. Laws, handbooks, and deadlines change, districts and scholarship organizations apply them, and your family's situation may differ. You are responsible for verifying requirements — especially deadlines — with your school district, scholarship funding organization, or an attorney. Your use of any compliance information in the Service is at your own judgment.

2. Eligibility and your account

You must be at least 18 and a parent, guardian, or other adult managing a family's education records. You're responsible for keeping your password secure and for activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.

3. Your records belong to you

You own the content you put into the Service — your family's records, files, and documents. You grant us only the limited license needed to store, process, back up, and display that content to you in order to operate the Service. You can export everything at any time, and you're responsible for the accuracy of the records you keep and for retaining records as Florida law requires (generally two years for home education records).

4. Acceptable use

Don't use the Service to break the law, to store content unrelated to your family's education records, to probe or disrupt the Service's security, to access another account, or to resell the Service. We may suspend accounts that do.

5. Beta status, changes, and availability

The Service is currently offered as a free beta. Features may change, be added, or be removed, and occasional downtime or bugs are possible. We strongly encourage regular use of the built-in backup export. We may modify or discontinue the Service; if we ever discontinue it, we will give at least 30 days' notice and keep the export function available during that period so you can take your records with you.

6. Fees

The beta is free. If we introduce paid plans, pricing and terms will be presented before you're charged anything, and continued use of paid features will require your agreement at that time.

7. Our intellectual property

The Service's software, design, and name are ours (or our licensors'). These terms don't grant you rights to them beyond using the Service. This doesn't affect your ownership of your own records.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Without limiting Section 1: we do not warrant that compliance information is complete, current, or applicable to your situation, or that use of the Service will result in compliance with any law or program requirement.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data (please use the export feature), lost profits, or the outcome of any interaction with a school district, scholarship organization, evaluator, or other authority. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of $100 or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service and request account deletion at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice where practicable. Upon termination we'll make your export available for a reasonable period unless legally prohibited.

11. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, and disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Florida. Before filing anything, please email us — most issues are fixable with a conversation.

12. Changes to these terms

If we make material changes, we'll notify you by email and/or in the app before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated terms.
